In the polished corporate corridors of North Carolina’s Research Triangle, accidents happen—some tragic, some suspiciously well-timed. When a routine workplace death spares a company millions, Risk Manager Mark Bradley takes notice. It’s his job to measure risk, to understand chance and probability. But as more deaths follow, each conveniently erasing a financial burden, coincidence begins to look a lot like design.
Drawn into a web that stretches far beyond his office walls, Mark and his friend Tom Bridges uncover whispers of a hidden order known only as The Underwriters—a quiet cabal that sees human life as a liability to be erased. At its center lurks a ghost from another world, a former mob assassin named Flyn, whose work blurs the edges between morality and money, mercy and murder.
As Mark edges closer to the truth, the lines between his professional world and personal loyalties begin to collapse. What begins as an inquiry into numbers and losses becomes a desperate fight to save the innocent from those who treat death as just another transaction. In a world ruled by profit and precision, Mark must decide what a single life is truly worth—and what he’s willing to risk to protect it.
